Providing Caring Counseling and Treatment for Over 28 Years

The counselors at North Kent Guidance Services (NKGS) have been providing compassionate counseling, treatment, and evaluation services for families and individuals for over 28 years. We are located in Grand Rapids, MI, and welcome patients from Kent, Montcalm, Ionia, and Ottawa counties, including the cities of Grand Rapids, Greenville, Ada, Byron Center, East Grand Rapids, Grandville, Hudsonville, Jenison, Rockford, Comstock Park, Cannonsburg, Forest Hills, Cedar Springs, Sparta, Greenville, Stanton, Six Lakes, Sidney, Belding, Ionia, Coopersville, Spring Lake, Fruitport, Allendale, Ravenna, Muskegon, Grand Haven, Conklin, Fremont, and Newaygo.

As part of our strategic plan over the next few years, we look to increase our ability to serve clients in rural and underserved areas, to continue to expand testing services and to increase our ability to provide services for seniors, families, and children.

The dedicated staff of mental health professionals at North Kent Guidance Services are licensed by the State of Michigan and operate within the highest ethical standards set by their professional organizations. Our staff members all have advanced degrees (Ph.D., Psy.D., L.M.S.W., and M.A.). Together, as a team of expert professionals, we provide comprehensive services to you.

Amanda Syverson, MA, LPC

Amanda Syverson is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She has obtained training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT) and is recognized as a Nationally Certified TFCBT therapist. Amanda has worked in the professional field specializing in children and families for over ten years providing therapy to youth, adolescents, adults, and families in an outpatient and community setting. Amanda also has experience with group facilitation and clinical supervision. Her areas of interest include trauma, grief/loss, parenting issues, stress management, adjustment issues, mood disorders, depression, and anxiety. Amanda follows an eclectic approach to therapy, recognizing each individual is different as are the therapeutic needs. Due to this, modalities of treatment vary and include Family Systems Approach, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, and Motivational Interviewing. At this time, Amanda is available for appointments at the Grand Rapids location.
Amanda Syverson — Grand Rapids, MI — North Kent Guidance Services

Beverly Shepard, Ph.D., L.L.P.,CAADC

Dr. Shepard specializes in substance abuse and trauma. She has been with North Kent Guidance Services for approximately 17 years. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), which helps individuals to overcome traumatic events. She also works with individuals with depression, personality disorders, bipolar disorders, sexual, emotional, and verbal abuse, and anxiety disorders. She helps individuals obtain healthier life styles. She works very closely with the court system and prepares driver’s license evaluations and court assessments. She is well versed in the court system and is a paneled member of Drug Court and Sobriety Court of Montcalm County. Dr. Shepard works with families, couples, and individuals. She sees children starting at age 12, up to adults in the geriatric generation. She takes most medical insurances.

Brandon C. Ehle, Psy.D., L.P.

Dr. Brandon C. Ehle is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist providing individual, couple, family, and group psychotherapy. He serves adolescents, young adults, and adults (ages 12 and up). Dr. Ehle has his Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University and completed his Pre-Doctoral Internship at Grand Valley State University’s Counseling and Career Development Center (Both APA Accredited programs). He achieved his B.S. in Psychology at Central Michigan University. Dr. Ehle has a generalist background in Clinical Psychology. He has worked in a variety of settings, including: private practice, student counseling, residential rehabilitation, and community mental health. Dr. Ehle is well versed in providing services for depression, anxiety, alcohol and substance abuse, phobias, anger management, healthy lifestyle changes, adjustment disorders, grief, stress management, relationship issues, crisis intervention, and many other presenting issues. Dr. Ehle is available for appointments Monday through Friday.
Brandon Ehle — Grand Rapids, MI — North Kent Guidance Services

Chris Ehle, Psy.D., L.P.

Dr. Chris Ehle is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist providing psychological assessment, individual, couple, and group psychotherapy. Dr. Ehle has a background in clinical psychology, with a special focus on psychological assessment, adolescent, adult, and geriatric psychology. He is well versed in using psychometric instruments to help determine underlying causes of psychological discord. In addition, Dr. Ehle has experience treating various forms of depression and anxiety, personality issues, memory difficulties, sleep problems, anger management, grief, learning disabilities, attention-deficit disorder, relationship problems, substance abuse, and many other behavioral issues. Dr. Ehle is available for appointments Monday through Friday.

Lexie Rice, M.A., T.L.L.P. CAADC

Lexie is a Master’s level psychologist (TLLP). She received her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Western Michigan University. Lexie has a passion for helping individuals through life’s challenges and has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in individual and group therapy. She takes an integrative and collaborative approach to therapy and understands that each client has their own unique needs. Lexie enjoys working with clients to address substance use, ADD and ADHD, trauma, self-esteem and body image concerns, personality and behavior issues, relationship issues, and stress and anxiety management. Lexie is available for appointments Monday through Friday.

Lisa Allard, M.A., L.L.P., L.P.C.

Lisa Allard is a Limited Licensed Psychologist (LLP) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) providing therapy to adults, teens children (age 5 and up), families, and couples. She specializes in working with victims of domestic and sexual violence and has 12 years of therapy experience and 8 years of case management experience. She also can treat depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions, grief and loss, stress management, anger issues, parenting, blended family and divorce issues, behavior issues, codependency, and women’s issues. She is a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist utilizing the Grief Recovery Method for individuals, groups, or for pet loss. She is available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at our Coopersville location and Tuesdays and Fridays at our Grand Rapids location. 

Lisa Allard — Grand Rapids, MI — North Kent Guidance Services

Lisa Rashewsky, MA,LLP,CAADC,RDN, Counselor, and Dietitian

Besides being a Master’s – level Psychologist who sees individuals and couples for counseling; Lisa is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist as well as being certified in the area of substance abuse. She sees clients from age 16 and up for depression, anxiety, grief and loss issues, substance abuse issues, family/life struggles, and relationship building. She also sees adolescents, and adults who have weight or eating problems. She has over 20 years of work experience. Lisa is available to see clients Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Friday and Saturday mornings from 7 a.m until noon.

Lori M. Bray, Ph.D., L.P.

Dr. Bray is a Licensed Psychologist providing individual, family, couple, and group therapy. Dr. Bray has experience working with adolescents, college students, and adults. She has worked in a variety of settings, including traditional elementary, middle, and high schools, alternative high schools, university counseling centers, residential treatment centers, and traditional mental health centers. Her areas of expertise include her work with the LGBT population, victims of sexual and physical abuse, adolescent sexual offenders, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, general stress, and relationship problems. Areas of extensive training and expertise include marriage and family therapy and the LGBT population. Interest areas include relationship issues, adjustment issues, adolescent sex offenders, victims of sexual abuse, and the LGBT population. Dr. Bray accepts clients ages 13 and older. Dr. Bray is available for appointments at the Grand Rapids location Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 8:30 am until 7 pm and on Friday from 8:30 am until 4 pm. She is available for appointments at the Greenville location on Wednesdays from 8:30 am to 3:15 pm.

Student Interns

North Kent Guidance Services participates and supports the training of mental health professionals. Interns and apprentices work under the supervision of a licensed individual in their respective discipline when placed with North Kent Guidance Services. Supervision includes weekly face-to-face meetings as well as immediate emergency availability of the supervisor.

Hello! My name is Madyson Sniecinski, although I typically go by Mady. Ever since I was a little girl, I really enjoyed helping people so when I found out I could do it for a living I was sold! I am interested in working with adults, adolescents, and children ages 8 and up.

 

I believe that no one knows you better than you know yourself. I will try my very best to understand your worldview, values, and beliefs so that we can work together on setting goals and creating effective change throughout the therapy process. I want to empower you to be able to navigate through the ups and downs of life. In order to accomplish that, I am interested in employing a wide range of theories in order to help you reach your goals such as Person-Centered, Strengths Based, Solution Focused, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

 

I earned my master's degree from Western Michigan University in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program and my associate's degree in event management and bachelor's degree in psychology from Central Michigan University.

Morgan Terbovich, M.A., LLPC

Morgan Terbovich is a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor, providing individual counseling to adolescents and young adults. She is a trauma-informed therapist with some training in the Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) model. She also has experience and interest in trauma, adjustment disorders, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, and mood disorders. Morgan’s therapeutic approach focuses on mindfulness-based cognitive therapy with a solution-focused mindset. She encourages client-led counseling sessions, believing that the client is able to enact change when they are vocal in their counseling journey. Morgan is available Sunday through Wednesday at the Grand Rapids location.
